3 c. plain flour
2 3/4 c. sugar
5 eggs
2 sticks butter, softened
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. Crisco
1 c. sweet milk
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

If you want to make chocolate pound cake add 5 tablespoons of cocoa.

Cream butter, sugar, Crisco; add eggs. Combine dry ingredients by sifting together. Add milk a little at a time with dry ingredients. Bake in tube pan at 325 degrees for 1 1/2 hours. Grease pan good.
