1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 egg yolks
1 tbsp. vanilla
2 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tbsp. sour milk
4 1/2 c. nuts
1 lb. chopped dates

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks and vanilla. Beat at medium speed 2 or 3 minutes. Sift dry ingredients and add to above. Add sour milk. Blend by hand. Add nuts and dates. Drop by 1/2 teaspoons on cookie sheet. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. You may refrigerate dough and use as needed.
