MICHIGAN ROCK CAKE 
1 lb. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
4 eggs
1 lb. dates, chopped
1 lb. black walnuts, crushed not too fine
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking powder
3 c. flour

Bake in drops or add 1 cup milk and bake in a cake.
