RICE KRISPIES MARSHMALLOW TREATS | |
1/4 c. butter 6 to 10 oz. pkg. reg. marshmallows (about 40) or (4 c. miniature marshmallows) 1/2 tsp. vanilla 5 c. Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal Melt butter in 3 quart saucepan. Add marshmallows and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until marshmallows are melted and mixture is very syrupy. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Add cereal and stir until well coated. Press warm mixture firmly into buttered 9x13 pan. Cut into squares when cool. VARIATIONS: DROPS: Dro p warm marshmallow cereal mixture from buttered spoon onto wax paper. Let stand until firm. DREAM BARS: Press warm marshmallow cereal mixture into buttered 9x13 pan. Cut into bars, 2x1 inch. Dip ends of bars into melted semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted, then in chopped nuts. Place on wax paper. CHOCOLATE ROLLS: Shape warm marshmallow cereal mixture into 2 rolls, about 12 x 1 1/2 inches. Let stand until firm. Coat with melted semi-sweet chocolate; cool. Cut into slices. SHAPES: Press warm marshmallow cereal mixture lightly into buttered pans to a depth of about 1/2 inch. Cut with cookie cutters into shapes. Decorate as desired. ICE CREAM SANDWICHES: Press warm marshmallow cereal mixture in very thin layer in buttered pans. When cool, cut into 3 inch squares. Put 2 squares together with a slice of ice cream between. |
