CRISCO DOWN HOME CORN BREAD SQUARES | |
3 tbsp. Crisco shortening, melted 2 eggs 2 c. buttermilk 2 1/2 c. yellow cornmeal 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda Beat eggs until light; stir in buttermilk and melted Crisco. Combine remaining ingredients; beat into buttermilk mixture until batter is smooth. Pour into greased 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes. Serve hot. Makes nine 3 inch squares. |
