SOUR CREAM OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. finely chopped dates or use half raisins & half dates
1 c. quick cooking rolled oats

Cream butter and sugars. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Coat dates with 1/4 cup dry mixture. Stir remaining sifted ingredients into creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Stir in date mixture and oats.

Drop by level tablespoonfuls a few inches apart on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 12-15 minutes. Let set about 30 seconds then with spatula remove to wire rack to cool. Cookies should be light brown and on the soft side.
