SWEETIE PIES 
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. milk

Mix well. Drop by tablespoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Drop fairly far apart as they spread. Cool and fill.

FROSTING:

1 lb. powdered sugar
1/2 c. soft shortening, do not substitute butter
2 tbsp. soft butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 - 2 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. lemon extract

Cream with electric beater. Spread between Sweetie Pies. (I double the cookie recipe and use a single recipe of frosting.)
