COLOSSAL CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE
1 1/2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, softened
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
3 tbsp. sugar
1 lg. egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 to 1 1/4 c. chocolate chips (6 oz. = about 1 c.)

In small bowl, mix flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.

In large mixing bowl, beat at medium speed, butter, brown sugar, and sugar until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla. At low speed gradually beat in flour mixture until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Refrigerate dough for 1 1/2 hours - should be well chilled but not hard. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Grease 12 inch pizza pan. Place dough in center of pan. Press evenly to within 1 1/2 inches of pan edge. If desired sprinkle an additional 1/4 cup chocolate chips on top, pressing down lightly.

Bake in center of oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Edges should be firm, and no indent should remain when center is lightly touched. Place pan on rack and cool completely before removing cookie from pan.

When cool, wrap tightly in plastic wrap to retain freshness. May be decorated.
