1 can (1 lb. 14 oz.) pear halves 1 c. pear syrup 1 box (3 oz.) lime flavor gelatin 6 oz. cream cheese 2 tbsp. milk 1/2 c. heavy cream, whipped Salad greens Drain pears, reserving 1 cup of the syrup. Mash pears with fork or potato masher. Heat syrup, pour over gelatin and stir until gelatin is dissolved. Beat cheese with milk until smooth and blended (use mix master). Gradually beat in hot gelatin. Chill until slightly thickened. Fold in pears and cream. Chill in 1 1/2 quart mold until firm. Unmold on greens. Serves 8. This can be molded in individual molds, if desired. Sometimes this recipe can be used as a dessert, by omitting the salad greens and serve with thawed frozen strawberries or fresh berries, when in season. |
