1 (8 or 9 inch) pastry shell, baked & cooled 1 can sweetened condensed milk 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 c. hot water 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1 c. heavy cream, whipped Whip cream & shave chocolate for garnish In the top of a double boiler, combine condensed milk, chocolate and salt. Cook over boiling water, stirring occasionally until mixture is thick. Gradually stir in water and continue to cook 2 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently until mixture thickens again. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Cool to room temperature. When cooled, fold in whipped cream. Pour into pastry shell. Chill. Garnish before serving with chocolate. Refrigerate any leftovers. |
