RAISIN BAKING POWDER BISCUITS
3 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar or 2/3 c. if less is desired
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. raisins
1 egg - milk

Mix the flour, salt, sugar, nutmeg and shortening together as for a pie crust. In a measuring cup, drop in 1 egg or 1 whole egg and the yolk of a second if you would like to have them a little richer. To this add enough milk to make 3/4 of a cup. Whip with a wire whip or table fork just before using.

Put boiling water over raisins and let stand covered for a few minutes. Drain and press out extra water. Add to dry ingredients. Add the liquid. Roll on a floured board to about 1/2 inch thick. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
