OLD STYLE APPLESAUCE 
8-10 apples, peeled, cored and cut in sm. pieces
1/2 c. water
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. raisins
1 tsp. lemon or orange juice
1/2 c. honey
1 oz. lemon or apple brandy (optional)

Put apples, water and lemon in kettle. Bring to a boil and simmer until about one-half of the apples are soft. Add remaining ingredients and simmer another 15-20 minutes. Mash with potato masher, leaving some whole for texture. Best when served warm.
