4 c. sugar 1 c. water 1 c. light corn syrup 5 drops red food coloring 3/4 tsp. oil of cinnamon Combine sugar, water and syrup in a large Dutch oven. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Stir in food coloring. Continue to cook, without stirring, until mixture reaches hard crack stage (300 degrees). Remove from heat and stir in oil of cinnamon. Working rapidly, spread mixture onto an 15x10x1-inch jelly roll pan. Let cool; break into pieces. Yield: about 4 dozen pieces. NOTE: Oil of cinnamon may be purchased at drug stores. |
