FRUITED COCKTAIL GEMS 
1 (1 lb.) can fruit cocktail, drained well, reserve syrup
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Drain fruit cocktail VERY WELL, reserving syrup. Cream next 4 ingredients until fluffy. Add egg, beat well. Sift together dry ingredients. Add alternately to creamed mixture with 1/3 cup of the reserved fruit cocktail syrup. (I use a little less.) Stir in chopped nuts, raisins and fruit cocktail. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 to 375 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.
