SOUTHERN POUND CAKE | |
1 1/4 cups butter, softened 2 3/4 cups sugar 5 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. maple flavoring 3 cups Red Band plain flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1 cup evaporated milk Heat oven to 300°F. Grease and flour tube pan. Measure butter, sugar, eggs and flavorings into large mixing bowl. Blend one minute on low speed, scraping bowl. Beat 5 minutes on high speed. On low speed, mix in flour, baking powder and salt, alternately with milk. Pour into pan and bake 1 hour or until wooden tooth pick comes out clean. Cool in pan 20 minutes. Remove from pan. May sprinkle with powdered sugar. |
