1/2 c. blue label Karo
1/2 c. water
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. grated lemon rind (optional)
1 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. sugar
6 Golden Delicious baking apples

Combine first 6 ingredients and bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Core apples. Peel upper half. Place in shallow baking dish. Pour syrup mixture over apples. Bake in 350 degree oven at least 1 hour. Baste frequently.

You can also core apples and slice, instead of using whole apples.
