BAKED SCALLOPS 
1 qt. scallops
1 c. bread crumbs
3 tbsp. grated cheese
1 c. cream sauce (recipe below)
Salt & pepper to taste

Wash scallops and cover with cold water. Heat slowly to boiling point. Line a buttered baking dish with alternate layers of bread crumbs and scallops. Sprinkle each layer with salt and pepper. Add the sauce, sprinkle with bread crumbs and cheese. Bake 30 minutes at 375 degrees.

CREAM SAUCE:

4 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp. flour
1 c. milk
1 c. light cream

Melt butter over low heat and blend in flour. Add milk gradually and stir until thick and smooth. Add cream and simmer for 5 minutes to cook flour. Season with salt and pepper.

Makes 2 cups.
