CANDIED FRUIT SQUARES 
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 c. candied fruit
Chopped gum drops
1/2 c. chopped pecans

ICING:

1 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. milk
Pinch of salt

Cream together the first four ingredients. Sift flour with soda, cinnamon, and pinch of salt. Add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in fruit and nuts. Spread thinly on well-greased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated 325 degree oven for 20 minutes, turning pan around after first 10 minutes. Meanwhile, make icing by heating milk and melting butter in it. Pour milk over sugar and salt and stir to blend well. It will be a thin icing and should be spread over warm cake. Cool iced cake and cut in squares.
