APPLE DATE BREAD 
1 1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. flaked coconut
1 1/2 c. milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. dates, diced
1 c. apples, finely chopped

Mix together flours, sugar, baking powder and salt; stir in coconut. Combine milk and egg; add to dry ingredients, blending well. Add apple and dates. Turn into greased, floured 9x5x3 inch loaf pan; bake in preheated 350 degree F. oven 1 1/4 hours. Cool on rack. Note: Terrific to slice for coffee or tea break, or as a dessert topped with apple plum butter.
