WHOLE STRAWBERRY PIE 
1 qt. fresh whole strawberries
1 c. sugar, divided
1 pkg. frozen strawberries -OR- raspberries
5 tbsp. cornstarch
red food coloring (optional)
1 pie shell (baked)
whipped cream

Combine fresh strawberries (cleaned, hulled and left whole) with 1/2 cup sugar. Let stand overnight in the refrigerator.

Strain frozen berries. Measure juice, adding enough water to make 2 cups. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cornstarch. Add to juice and cook until very thick. Add a few drops of red food coloring (if desired) and cool.

Fold in the fresh strawberries and put into a pre-baked pie shell. Before serving, garnish with whipped cream.
