SPONGE CANDY OR ANGEL FOOD 
1 c. sugar
1 c. dark corn syrup
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tbsp. baking soda

Mix sugar, syrup and vinegar in a large heavy saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar melts. Remove spoon and continue to cook (without stirring) until candy reaches 300 degrees on candy thermometer. Remove from heat and quickly stir in soda. Mix well, pour into buttered 9 x 9 inch or 9 x 13 inch pan. Do not spread as candy will spread itself. Do not move pan. Cool and break into pieces. Dip into chocolate flavored dipping chocolate.

Hints: Use fresh soda, use glass pan so when breaking up with knife will not damage pan.
