ROLLED SUGAR COOKIES 
1/4 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. white sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Mix butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Then add eggs and vanilla and mix together well. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and slowly add it to butter mixture until thoroughly blended. Split dough in half and chill both halves at least 3 hours in refrigerator. Use only one half at a time to roll and cut. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and roll with a lightly floured rolling pin until it is 1/8 inch thick. Lightly dust your cookie cutter with flour. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees.
