OLD FASHIONED MOLASSES TEA CAKES | |
5 c. flour 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tbsp. ginger 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 sticks softened butter 1 egg 1 c. molasses (sorghum won't do) 3/4 tsp. warm water 1 c. plain flour Sift together flour, soda, baking powder and ginger. Make a well in the middle of the flour mixture and add sugar, butter, egg, molasses and water. Mix well with your hands, then put in 1 more cup of flour and mix well. Pinch off pieces of the dough and pat into very large cookies. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Seal in tight container so cookies will stay soft. |
