AUNT AGNES' DILL PICKLES 
5 c. water
5 tsp. salt (1 tsp. per c.)
1/2 c. cider vinegar
1 bay leaf & 5 peppercorns
1/2 tsp. pickling spice
5 tsp. sugar (1 tsp. per c.)

Boil all ingredients for 5 minutes (not pickles). Wash pickling cukes (10 to 12). Prepare dill (fresh), 2 garlic cloves in a pickling crock. Place at bottom of crock. Place cukes in crock. Pour boiling liquid over cukes and spices. Cool and marinate for 1 to 2 days.
