FRENCH BREAD 
1 1/2 c. warm water
1 pkg. yeast
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. melted butter
2 tsp. salt
About 3 1/2 c. plain flour

Special pans must be used. I bought mine at Wal-Mart.

In large bowl dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar, butter and salt. Gradually add flour and stir well after each addition. Continue to add flour until you can knead it. Knead for about 5 minutes. Place in large greased bowl and cover. Let rise for several hours. Punch down and on floured board divide dough into two parts and shape in long loaves. Place in greased French bread pans that have cornmeal sprinkled on bottom. Do not cover this time. Bake in 350 degree oven.
