CLASSIC BROWNIE 
2 c. granulated sugar
2/3 c. butter
1/2 c. cocoa
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. evaporated milk
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Walnuts

Combine sugar, butter, cocoa and butter. Run in the microwave on HIGH power until the butter melts, about 1 minute. Allow to cool. Add the egg and vanilla and stir until smooth. Stir in the baking powder, baking soda, flour, salt, milk and walnuts. Bake at 350 degrees in a 9 x 13 inch pan for 30 minutes. These are rich enough that they really don't need a frosting, but if you like, top with a chocolate frosting or dust with powdered sugar.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
