1 1/2 c. flour 3/4 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar LAYER #2 (syrup) : 2 c. sugar 1/2 c. water 2 envs. Knox gelatin 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 to 2 drops red food coloring 1/2 c. nuts LAYER #3: 1 c. coconut Mix ingredients for Layer #1 and put in 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 25 minutes. Let cool while making syrup. Bring sugar and water to boil for 2 minutes. Add gelatin and dissolve. Beat 10 minutes on high. Add vanilla, food coloring, and nuts. Beat until food coloring is well blended. Pour over dough. Sprinkle top with coconut and chill. Cut into 1 inch square. Makes 48. |
