SOFT SUGAR COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk

Sift flour and then resift 3 times with baking powder, salt and nutmeg, cream sugar - gradually add sugar, egg and beat well. Stir in 1/3 of flour, then add milk and remaining flour. Chill in refrigerator several hours. Roll to 1/4 inch thickness. Bake at 400 degrees about 12-15 minutes.
