1 pkg. yellow or white cake mix
3/4 c. shortening, melted and cooled
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
Combine all ingredients in mixing bowl. Refrigerate 2 hours or more. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll dough 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut into shapes with floured cutter. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate before or after baking 6 or 10 minutes or until edges start to brown. Let cookies cool several minutes on cookie sheet, then remove to racks to finish cooling. Store in airtight container. Makes 5-6 dozen.
