FARM COUNTRY BREAD PUDDING 
4 c. stale bread or French bread, cubed
1/2 c. seedless raisins
3 tbsp. melted butter
4 eggs
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
3 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Arrange bread cubes and raisins in buttered 1 1/2 quart baking dish or casserole and drizzle with butter.

Combine eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Beating slightly. Dissolve sugar in milk and add to eggs in a fine stream, stirring constantly. Stir in vanilla. Pour over bread cubes and bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 55-60 minutes or until silver knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve slightly warm or chilled plain or with whipped cream.
