BUTTERMILK BISCUITS | |
2 c. flour Dash of salt 2 tbsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 to 2 1/2 c. buttermilk 1 lg. tbsp. shortening or bacon grease Mix flour, salt, baking powder. Add shortening and cut in. Add soda to buttermilk, stir until a hollow sound. Pour into flour mixture. Turn out onto floured board. Fold 2 to 3 times and cut with biscuit cutter. Turn each biscuit once in hot grease. Bake in iron skillet. Put skillet in oven with 2 tablespoons Crisco or bacon grease. Bake at 400 degrees 20 to 25 minutes. |
