FRUIT CAKE 
2 c. shelled walnuts
2 c. shelled Brazil nuts
8 oz. jar maraschino cherries, drained
1 lb. whole pitted dates
1 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sugar
4 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla. Add other ingredients; beat egg whites stiff and fold in. Grease pan well and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes. Can also use candied pineapple instead of cherries. Use large pieces of nuts and fruit.
