Like others who commented, I was out of Bisquick and my little guy wanted pancakes. I found this recipe and since it got mostly great reviews I went for it. The only thing I added was the 1/2 tsp of Vanilla and he wanted Peanut Butter chips. The pancakes were AWESOME! I noticed someone commented theirs came out runny even though they followed recipe exactly. I would say maybe they think they did, but they must have added too much milk or something. So if you are reading this recipe and aren't sure, go for it. You will not be disappointed!

Made this this morning. Great success. I added 1/2 teaspoon of real vanilla flavoring and changed to self-rising flour.

I just tried this recipe, it is extremely adjustable & versatile I halved the recipe it made 5 decent sized cakes. I just added blueberries & strawberries & used Whole wheat flour instead of white. Next time I will try spelt flour with raspberries & chopped prunes, anything for a healthy pancake I love this recipe, thank you.

Fluffiest pankakes ever! Yummmmm! I had to use EVOO but halved the amount of oil, added tsp or so of Hershey's cocoa powder and vanilla! Turned out great, even my picky toddler ate them, thanks for the recipe!

I used rice flour instead of the wheat flour. Used 1 3/4 cups. Added a bit more sugar to sweeten them up (rice flour is bland). My husband and daughter loved them!

Very fluffy, could use more sugar. I added 2 tbsp of chocolate syrup and put peanut butter on top. Delicious!

This site has some wonderful recipes and I have used alot of them. However, this is my first time writing a review. We love pancakes at my house and I have always used Bisquick mix to make them, but today I decided to try some from scratch. I followed this recipes EXACTLY except I did add 1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring. The taste was OK (which is why I gave it 3 stars) but pancakes are supposed to be "fluffy". These were flat, flat, flat!!!! I poured batter on a very hot skillet and the batter ran like crazy taking no shape at all :( From now on, I will stick to my Bisquick mix.

 Todd (California) replies:
If you followed the recipe the way its written right now I could understand why they might have turned out flat. Most recipes will state the importance of when combining dry ingredients with the wet ingredients. DON'T OVER MIX THE BATTER! Just enough to moisten the dry ingredients.. It may be a bit lumpy. Try that and i bet you will have the fluffiest pancakes!

Why does overbeating make them unfluffy? Most recipes caution about overbeating. I'd like to know just how that works.
