TWICE BAKED ITALIAN COOKIE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
4 eggs
1 tsp. anise
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. anise seeds
4 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 c. toasted almond pieces & hold

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and flavorings; mix. Mix together flour, salt and baking powder. Add to cream mix. Add almonds. Divide dough into 4 pieces and roll out on lightly floured board, about 1 1/2" in diameter and 12" long. Put on cookie sheets (2).
