ALMOND PASTRY 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tbsp. water
Pinch of salt
3/4 c. shortening
3 tbsp. sugar

Mix like pie crust; pat on cookie sheet or jelly roll pan. 1 c. flour 3 eggs Pinch of salt 1/2 c. butter 1 tbsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. almond extract

Cook water, flour, butter and sugar to soft ball stage; add eggs, almond extract and salt. Spread on crust. Bake about 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Spread when cool with almond frosting. Sprinkle almond slices on top of frosting.

FROSTING:

1 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 tbsp. butter
Water or milk to make it thin enough to spread
