Finely chop 2 cups cold boiled ham, and moisten with 1/4 cup tartar sauce, mayonnaise or salad dressing. Mash the yolk of 1 boiled egg with 1/8 teaspoon celery seed and add this to the ham with 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard.
Toast bread and spread lightly with butter. Sprinkle ham lightly with garlic powder and black pepper. Place paper thin slices of red onion on bread.
Next, place a crisp slice of lettuce, ripped into bite size pieces, enough to cover slice. Finish with thinly sliced, fresh ripe tomato, if desired. Slice diagonally across sandwich and serve with dill strips on the side.
