SOUR CHERRY CAKE 
1/3 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sweet milk

Mix at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add 2 eggs and beat 1 minute more. Fold in gently:

1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 c. well drained cherries

Bake in well greased and floured 13"x9" pan or 2 (10 1/2" x 7") pans at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until done.

SAUCE:

3/4 c. cherry juice
1 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
Dash of salt
2 tbsp. cornstarch dissolved in a little water
1/4 tsp. almond extract

Heat cherry juice, water, sugar and salt in a pan. Add dissolved cornstarch. Bring to a boil and boil 10 minutes. Add almond extract. Use all your cherry juice and add the other ingredients accordingly.
