EASY SAUCEPAN CHOCOLATE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 c. water
1 tsp. baking soda
3 tbsp. cocoa
2 c. flour
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Sift flour, sugar and salt together in a large bowl. In a saucepan put butter, shortening, water and cocoa. Bring to a boil. Pour over flour and sugar mixture. Mix well and add eggs and soda dissolved in buttermilk. Add vanilla and mix well. Batter will be thin. Bake in a greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan for 30 minutes.

CHOCOLATE FROSTING:

1 stick butter
3 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box powdered sugar
1 c. nuts, chopped

Mix butter, cocoa and milk in saucepan. Stir and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar, vanilla and nuts. Mix well. Spread over cake while it is still hot.
