CRISP CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. water
1 1/3 c. flour
2 c. oats
1 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 (8 oz.) pkg. semi sweet chocolate pieces

Cream shortening and sugars until fluffy. Beat in vanilla, eggs and water. Combine flour, oats, walnuts, soda and salt. Stir into egg mixture. Fold in chips. Roll into balls and press flat on ungreased baking sheet for small cookies, or make 2 inch balls and press flat for large cookies. Bake at 375 degrees 10 minutes for small cookies or 15 to 20 minutes for large cookies, or until firm. Makes 100 small or 3 dozen large cookies.
