CRANBERRY BREAD | |
2 tbsp. shortening 2 c. regular flour 1 c. sugar 1 1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 c. cranberries, chopped or halved 1/2 c. chopped nuts 2 tsp. grated orange peel Juice from 1 orange 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1 egg, beaten Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease loaf pan 9 x 5 x 3 inches. Cut shortening into flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt and peel. Add water to juice to measure 3/4 cup. Blend in with cheese and egg. Fold in cranberries and nuts. Bake 60-70 minutes. Let loaf stand 8 hours before slicing. |
