CARAMEL- LAYER CHOCOLATE SQUARES | |
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix 3/4 c. melted butter 1/3 c. evaporated milk 1 tbsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped nuts 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips 1 (14 oz.) pkg. light caramels 1/3 c. evaporated milk In large mixing bowl, combine dry cake mix, butter, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, vanilla and nuts. Stir by hand until batter, holds together. Grease and flour bottom of 13 x 9 inch pan. press 1/2 batter into bottom of pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove from oven. Sprinkle chocolate chips over baked crust. In saucepan combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Cook over low heat stirring constantly until caramels are melted. Spread caramel mixture over chocolate chips. Crumble remaining batter over caramel layer. Return to oven for 18 minutes. Cool. Cut in squares. |
