LAZY DAISY OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. butter (softened)
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. brown sugar (packed)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon

Pour boiling water over oats; cover and let stand 20 minutes. Beat butter until creamy; gradually add sugar, beating until fluffy. Blend in vanilla and eggs. Add oats mixture, mixing well.

Sift together flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add to creamed mixture, mixing well. Pour batter into well greased and floured 9-inch square pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 50-55 minutes. Do not remove from pan.

FROSTING:

1/4 c. butter (melted)
1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
3 tbsp. light cream
1/2 c. chopped nuts
3/4 c. shredded coconut

combine all ingredients; put on top of cake. Broil until frosting becomes bubbly or a nice brown.
