MACE ROLLS
6 c. flour
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ground mace
1 c. milk
4 tbsp. lard, melted
1 c. warm water
1 pkg. yeast

Sift together flour, sugar, salt and mace. Mix well. Put lard in milk and dissolve yeast in water. Add the liquids to dry ingredients. Work in enough water to make a stiff dough. Knead lightly. Put in covered bowl. Grease top and let rise until mixture has doubled its bulk. Turn on floured board and knead again. Roll dough in rectangular sheet about 1/2" thick; brush with melted butter and sprinkle with mace. Roll up like jelly roll and cut in 1" slices. Put in greased muffin pans. Brush tops with melted butter. Let rise until double and bake at 300 degrees for 20 minutes. Dough may be left in refrigerator until needed.
