APPLE FLAKEY SQUARES 
2 1/2 c. flour
2 handsful of crushed corn flakes or other cereal
Egg white
1 egg yolk plus enough milk to make 2/3 c. liquid
1 c. shortening (use 2 tbsp. butter - the rest lard)

FILLING:

8-10 apples, peeled and sliced
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cinnamon

GLAZE:

1 c. powdered sugar

Add milk and 1/4 teaspoon almond flavoring to make thin icing.

Mix flour, sugar and shortening like a pie crust. Add enough milk to mixture and stir with fork. Roll out 1/2 dough in the bottom of the pan. Add apples, sugar and cinnamon. Roll out the other half of dough for top of crust.

Beat the egg whites until stiff and spread on the top of crust. Bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees then 50 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven and spread with glaze.
