BEEF STEW 
2 lb. stewing beef
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. oil
1 lg. onion, chopped
2 tbsp. flour
2 c. water
2 c. red wine or water
3 tbsp. ketchup
1 pkg. beef stew mix
1 tbsp. parsley
1 tsp. basil leaves
3 generous dashes of pepper sauce
8 carrots, sliced
3 sm. stalks celery sliced
1/2 lb. green beans, sliced
6 potatoes, diced

Melt butter and oil in large pot. Brown beef and onion together for 10 minutes. Sprinkle flour over beef and onion and stir together. Add water, wine, ketchup, stew mix, parsley, basil leaves, and pepper sauce. Bring to a boil. Cover then reduce to low and cook for 1 1/2 hours. Add vegetables and cook for 1 hour longer or until vegetables are soft.
