BREAD PUDDING 
6 to 8 slices bread, toasted, buttered, some edges trimmed
2 eggs, slightly beaten
2 1/4 c. scalded milk
1/2 c. brown sugar (white if preferred)
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 to 1/4 tsp. salt
Raisins
Evaporated milk, if desired

Layer bread in loaf pan. Mix remaining ingredients and soak through bread. Set pan in a larger pan with 1 inch water. (Helps set custard and cook evenly). Bake at 325 degrees to 350 degrees for 45 minutes to 1 hour.

SAUCE:

3 tbsp. water
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. whiskey

Melt sugar in water, add butter and melt, add whiskey. Mix just before serving and serve HOT.
