1 1/3 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. chopped almonds
1/2 c. soft butter
1/4 c. white sugar
1/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 tbsp. grated orange rind
1 tbsp. orange juice

Mix and sift flour, salt and soda; add nut and mix well. Cream butter, add sugars gradually and cream until fluffy. Add egg yolk, orange rind and juice and mix well. Add flour mixture gradually and mix. Form dough into 2 rolls about 2 inches in diameter, wrap each in waxed paper and chill thoroughly. Slice thin and bake on UNgreased baking sheets in a preheated 400 degree oven about 6 minutes or until lightly brown. Approximately 4 dozen.

Slice about 1/8 of an inch and I have better to let the dough warm up a little before slicing.
