OYSTER COOKIES 
1 c. brown sugar, pressed down
1 c. shortening
1 egg
3 tbsp. sour milk
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3 c. oatmeal

Cream brown sugar and shortening. Add egg, milk, flour and soda. Mix and add oatmeal. Roll out cookie dough on well floured board. Cut with round cookie cutter. Fill with date mixture on one side and fold over. Press edges.

FILLING:

1 box dates
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. water

Cook until soft and mushy. As you fill cookies you may have to add a bit of water to keep soft. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes on greased cookie sheet.
