2 sticks butter
1/2 c. shortening
6 eggs
1 c. milk
3 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour, sifted

Cream butter, sugar, shortening and vanilla in mixer. Add the 6 eggs, one at a time; keep mixer running at medium speed. Alternate small amounts of the flour and the milk until mixed and blended well.

Place in ungreased pan. Place in COLD oven, turn to 300 degrees. Bake at least 1 hour before opening oven door. Done when broom straw comes out dry.
