MORAVIAN SUGAR CAKE 
1 pkg. dry granular yeast
1/2 c. lukewarm water
1 c. hot mashed potatoes
1 c. granulated sugar
4 tbsp. soft butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
Enough flour to make a soft dough
Enough butter, brown sugar and cinnamon for top

Allow yeast to soak in lukewarm water. To the hot mashed potatoes, add sugar, butter, and shortening. Add salt. Add yeast mixture. Set aside and allow to rise in a warm place until spongy.

Add eggs. Add sufficient sifted flour to make a soft dough. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk. Punch down on lightly floured board. Spread out evenly in greased flat pans. When dough has risen and seems light and fluffy, make holes for pieces of butter and brown sugar. Dust with cinnamon. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
